Botchan

The protagonist of Natsume Sōseki’s novel Botchan studied at the Tokyo Academy of Physics, the predecessor of today’s Tokyo University of Science. Inspired by that connection, we were commissioned to develop a character based on Botchan himself. The final design, selected through a university-wide vote, has become a beloved mascot among students, faculty, and affiliates, serving as a key figure in the university’s public relations efforts.
